K J Somaiya College of Science and Commerce is a constituent and affiliated non-government aided college under the auspices of the Somaiya Vidyavihar. It is recognized by the Government of Maharashtra and affiliated to University of Mumbai.

The college conducts its activities under the overall direction of its Governing Council formed as per the University Act, 1994. The Governing Council is the decision making body and High power committee of the college. The Council makes decisions of strategic importance, including the long term direction, tie ups with the national & foreign Universities, Approvals of plans, capital budgets and HR issues.

The Local Managing Committee/Advisory Committee is constituted as per the University of Mumbai provisions of section 43(3)(b) of the Bombay University Act,1974 to guide  and review in the routine academic, fiscal, administrative & disciplinary matters.

The day -to -day affairs of the college are supervised by the Principal, Vice-principals, and
Supervisor’s. The Registrar supervises the administrative matters and liaison work related to the UGC, University, Joint Director’s Office and other regulatory authorities.

The HoD’s for various aided departments and Coordinators for various unaided affiliated courses look after the academic and administrative affairs of their respective departments under the overall guidance of the Principal.

The Sports Director imparts coaching in various sports to the students in the campus and is a professional Athlete.

The college has a School Committee and a Co-ordination Committee to look into the affairs of the Junior College.
