Annual Report 2008-09

• Tree Plantation: 20 saplings were planted on the occasion of world environment day on 5^th June 2008.later 75 packets of seeds were sprayed in the mountain of Mumbra hill and Siddhagarh. Along with this students have also participated in the lecture series organized by the college.
• Anti-narcotic day: on 21^st June as a part of the anti-narcotic week an awareness programme was organized in collaboration with the Anti-narcotic department of the Mumbai police in which
• Blood donation: camp carried out in college on 25^th July 2008. 133 donars donated blood. Donars were also tested for Thalasaemia minor. Counseling to minor was also carried out.
• Thalasaemia minor testing for passing out students of TYBSC/BCOM & MSC-II were tested for Thalasaemia minor. This activity  was carried out on Dec 8^th & 9^th in collaboration with Think Foundation & Rotract Club.
• R.D.Parade: Bro.Maheshwar.Falake (S.Y.B.SC) was selected for & participated in R.D.Parade at state level. The volunteers Bro.Madhavesh.Dhandha and Bro.Jagadish.Rajane were involved in the R.D.Camp as trainers, under the ledership of Prof. D.G. Phondekar. The selection of volunteers at the district level was carried out on 22^nd August, 2008 in our college.
• Special camp: Residential camp of N.S.S volunteers was organized at Nareshwadi, Dahanu during 11^th Dec, 2008.

Sister.Priti.Bhanushali (T.Y.B.SC) participated in a National Integration Camp at Jaypur during 18^th to 24^th june,2008.

In all 12 volunteers from University Of Mumbai had participated in this camp and the Mumbai team was lead by Pro.Makarand Niphadkar, Prog.officer from our college.

Sister.Madhura Chaudhari participated in a National Integration camp held at Kandivili during 11^th to 18^th Dec,2008.

• Competitions: our N.S.S.volunteers bagged the first priize at a street play   competition held in Dnyanasadhana College, Thane. The theme of the street play was “.Eco Friendly Ganesh Utsav”. The same street play was later on performed at six places in Ghatkopar and at Thane.

• Our volunteer also participated in street play competitions and poster competition held by MDACS during August & January 2008.
• Leadership Training program for N.S.S. volunteers in Central Suburban District was camied out in our college in September 2008 (9^th to 13^th Sep: 52 volunteers)

A peer training workshop on HIV/AIDS awarness was organised in collaboration with MDACS on 24^th and 25^th Oct which was attend by 39 volunteers from various colleges.

• Disaster Management Program :  Prof. D. G. Phondekar, the District coordinator of NSS played a vital role in organizing the workshops on Disaster Preparedness for several colleges in Mumbai in collaboration with the D.R.M. cell of B. M. C.                                  

The first among these workshops was organized in our college on 18^th and 19^th July, 2008. So far, over 15 such workshops have taken place in various colleges in Mumbai and Prof. Phondekar and team of volunteers from our college have played an active role in these workshops.

 Currently a workshop for two days is being conducted for General Secretaries, Student Councils of various colleges in central suburbs in our college.

Our volunteers were invited by Thane Collectorate’s D.R.M. cell on various occasions at Bhivandi and Thane to perform street plays on DM and our team has performed many a times in June, August and January.

• Apart from these, our volunteers have been participating in many of the events organized at college as well as University level.
• Special Achievements :
• Bro. Madhavesh Dhandha (presently in M.Sc. I ) was selected as best NSS volunteer in Univ of Mumbai for the year 2007-08.
• Prof. D. G. Phondekar was selected as best District Coordinator, NSS in Univ of Mumbai for the year 2007-08.
• Bro. Maheshwar Falake ( S. Y. B. Sc. ) participated in the RD parade at the state level.
• Prof. Makarand Niphadkar was asked to take charge of Ghatkopar region as Area coordinator. He attended the orientation program for NSS program officers in Nov. 2008 
• + Programme officer of the college has attended the orientation programme at TISS during 20^th to 29^th   Nov 2008.
• + Sis. Priti Bhanushali was selected for National Integration camp at Jaipur from 18^th to 24^th June 2008.
• + Sis. Madhura Chaudhari has attended National Integration camp at Kandivali from 12^th to 18 Dec 2008  conducted by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Ministry of Sports & Cultural activities.
• + PO of the college Prof. D G. Phondekar was awarded as the best district coordinator by University of  Mumbai.
• + The PO of the college was felicitated in the hands of HE Hon. Governer of Maharashtra for training the    youth in the field of Disaster Management.
• + PO of the college Prof. D G. Phondekar has institutionalized the rotating trophy in theatre activities in  ‘Utkarsha’ the Social Cultural NSS Festival
