Planning session for the district was held in our college. Attended by 40 representatives from various colleges.

A workshop on First Aid was held in Godrej Compound, Vikhroli. It was attended by 25 volunteers from our college.

Help to mentally challenged children: In collaboration with Hi Tech Foundation, 500 flags made by mentally challenged children were distributed in the community.

Flag Code awareness campaign was carried out. Volunteers went in housing societies and carried out awareness.

Help to college Office: Volunteers helped the office in data entry of enrolment forms of FYBSc, FYBCom students. They also helped in updating library data.

R.D. Parade selection camp: District level selection took place in our college. Our volunteers and program officers were involved in the training and selection process.

Pre R. D. Parade camp at state level: Prof. Phondekar and a team of seven volunteers were involved in training of participants.

Peace rally in campus: A rally was organized by Somaiya trust in collaboration with “World Peace March”, an NGO in Ghatkopar on October 15th. Over 50 of our volunteers participated in the rally. A signature campaign towards promotion of peace and harmony was carried out for three weeks prior to the rally.

Blood donation Drive: It was held on 14th November, 2009 in Botany Lab. Somaiya Hospital Blood Bank collected 72 bags. The donors included staff as well as students. All donors were tested for Thalassemia minor. This activity was carried out in collaboration with THINK Foundation.

Tribute to martyrs: On 26th November a tribute was paid to the martyrs of the terrorist attack on Mumbai.

Residential Camp at Dahanu: 30 volunteers participated in the camp held at Naresh wadi, Dahanu in January 4th to 10th. Volunteers dug over 100 pits for tree plantations. They performed street plays on various topics carrying out awareness in the community. There was interaction with the tribal children. A snake show was arranged at the campsite. Study visits were taken to rubber plantations at Dapchari, Kunje dam and Dairy and Vermiculture at Nareshwadi.

“Sparsh”: In a special awareness program in “Life skills training” organized by MDACS in collaboration with Aamarai and UNICEF, sis. Vedangi Amnekar and Bro. Ramchandra Amnekar received training and later on acted as trainers for over 1000 youth in various slum areas of Mumbai.

Disaster Preparedness: Volunteers worked as trainers and demonstrators during workshops on disaster preparedness held at several other colleges. They carried out demonstrations in Keluskar School at Kurla. They participated in the demonstrations held at Shivaji Park, during 25th to 27th February. Two of our volunteers, Bro. Jagadish Rajane, and Sis. Dhanashree Kolambkar participated as trainers, along with proof. Phondekar at a state level camp at Omerga.

Theme based workshops on Disaster Preparedness as well as HIV/ AIDS awareness were held in the college. On 8th and 9th of March, 2010, a workshop on “Prevention of Youth Suicide” was organized.

Participation in other workshops and camps:
Three students participated in Leadership training camp at Mangaon in October 20th to 24th
Five volunteers participated in Two day Peer Training workshop on HIV/ AIDS Awareness held in Acharya Marathe College on 31st October and 1st November
Another three day workshop was held by MDACS at Lonavla, in which one of our volunteer participated.

Competitions: Our volunteers grabbed third prize in the street play competition held at Ruia College. They also grabbed first prize in poetry by bro. Kalpesh Zunjarrao. Our screenplay won third prize at Udaan, a competition held in Khalsa College. We also secured 2nd and 3rd prizes in Rangoli and Poster making competitions respectively. Apart from this students participated in various intercollegiate competitions.

Volunteers participated at various University events such as Peace rally, World Peace day, MDACS rally at Kora Kendra, RR Express etc.

Special achievements: Sis. Priti Bhanushali was awarded as best volunteer at district level for her work in 2008-09. Bro. Ramchandra Amnekar participated in Republic Day Parade at Shivaji Park
