Introduction

The Internal Quality Assessment Committee of SK Somaiya College of Arts, Science and Commerce was initiated in the year 2005.

The prime purpose of initiating Quality assessment in the institution was to ensure coordination of the various activities of the college, set qualitative standards and institutionalize the best practices.

IQAC

Objectives

IQAC strives to put together systemic efforts of the college towards academic excellence.
The aims are :

  • To identify the scope of the college in terms of imparting education.
  • To build research culture among the faculty.
  • To assure continuous addition to infrastructure that facilitates teaching learning process.
  • To conduct activities that positively impact teaching, research, and administration of the college.

Responsibilities

  • To initiate quality benchmarks for academic activity in the college.
  • To set the parameters for continuous improvement in quality of administrative work.
  • To build orderliness in administration work related to filing of documents, maintenance of records and follow up of university procedures.

Functions of IQAC

  • Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive for quality education
  • Encouraging faculty to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process
  • Arrangement for feedback responses from students, parents and other stakeholders on quality related institutional processes
  • Dissemination of information on the various quality parameters of higher education
  • Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars on quality related themes such as TLP, research etc.
  • Documentation of the various programmes/activities of the College
  • Preparation of Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) as per the format prescribed by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
  • Acting as a nodal agency of the college for coordinating quality-related activities, including initiation and suggestion of good practices.
